Bass Talk 8 - A Bass Bolero
BASS-TALK 8: A Bass Bolero is a stunning production by Vienna´s Harald Weinkum, featuring the bass icons:
Gary Willis (Tribal Tech)
Victor Wooten (Bela Fleck)
Jimmy Haslip (yellow Jackets / Jeff Richman Band)
Rocco Prestia ( Tower of Power)
Dave Carpenter (Allan Holdsworth)
Ric Fierabracci (Frank Gambale)
James Genus ( Brecker Bros.)
Jimmy Earl (Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke)
Also the album featured the last recordings of legendary saxman Bob Berg. The previous seven Bass Talk cds have each been a collection of various bass players from around the world. Austrian bassist, Harald Weinkum breaks the mold on this, as he plays in a variety of group settings one of which,
'A Bass Bolero,' features him playing with sixteen different bass players. Harald performs original material and his own interpretations of the 'Star Spangled Banner,' 'Don't Give Up' by Peter Gabriel, 'The Chicken,' by Pee Wee Ellis, 'Teentown' by Jaco Pastorius, 'A Child Is Born' by Thad Jones, and of course, 'A Bass Bolero' by Maurice Ravel. Wesley, trombone; Bernie G., Victor Jugovic, Kirk Covington, drums; Luis Conte, percussion.
